Relational Therapy for Men
So Many Men Believe that Therapy isn't for Them!
But here's the truth I have learned after 13 years of doing therapy with men:
1) Men have a lot to say and nowhere to say it.
2) Men are GOOD at therapy.
3) Men like therapy.
Therapy is not always tailored to men, but I am determined to change that. This isn’t the cry fest you’ve seen in movies- This work is part individual therapy, part relationship boot camp, and mainly fun. Men need therapy, but therapy needs to meet men where they are. So often, therapy feels like a “call out.” A list of the things you need to fix, the wrongs you need to make right.
Therapy is not calling you out on your mistakes, it is calling you in because you deserve more. It is an invitation, not a punishment.
In these sessions, I help you unlock the best you can be by normalizing your emotional experience. Together we create meaningful growth by having new experiences with vulnerability. Therapy becomes a sandbox for unlearning outdated stories, trying new ways of opening up, and building trust.
While therapy is always focused on self discovery and healing, as a relationship therapist, I never take my eye off of how to improve the connections in your life, how you relate to coworkers, friends, partners, and family. We practice emotional availability and develop comfort with vulnerability to ensure that relationships are transformed.
My secret weapons are humor and knowing my shit.
I’ve been asked many times why I think I’m qualified to speak on men’s issues and my answer is plain and simple… “I don’t plan to speak that much at all- great therapists create enough safety for YOU to open up and speak!” I want to hear you! At Emotional Algebra, I’ve ditched the office, the books, and the homework. I’ve gone virtual, been called a “swearapist,” leaned into humor and joy, picked up a lot of niche music, sports and pop culture references, and I am on the front lines to challenge the rigid stories about mental health that keep so many men from seeking therapy and living full, happy lives!
